Snowcater App for iPhone
Posted 12/14/09

The ski/snowboard-related iPhone apps keep coming. Among the latest is Snocator, an application that uses interactive trail maps to show you where you are on the mountain with all lifts, runs, on-hill eateries and features included. You can track your runs, speed, and vertical, too.

Snocator also provides you with the latest snow reports, weather conditions, mountain cams and up-to-the-minute forecasts. And, it allows you to track your progress en-route to the slopes and see how far away you are.

The app currently works anywhere you have a data signal or wifi connection with your iPhone. It covers some 800 resorts worldwide, with GPS maps for 60-plus resorts in North America, and more being added daily.

Cost: $5.99 one-time fee.

A $20 Ski Rack

Now, here’s something novel—a $20 ski rack from a company calling itself Raxstars. All you need is a car with a roof rack equipped with cross bars.

The rack attaches to your vehicle’s luggage bars with a clamp and a hook. It carries a pair of skis and poles.

And, how about this: it not only goes on and off easily, but it can be stored in the glove compartment.

A carrier that functions with luggage racks without crossbars, and a snowboard carrier are in the works.

Price: $20
